From a Child Dreaming of a Global Saudi Arabia to a Change-Making Leader: The Journey of Rayan Qutub
Who is Rayan? A Leader with Three Hats
Rayan Qutub does not define himself by a single title. He is a leader, father, and entrepreneur. With over 28 years of experience spanning multinational corporations, economic cities, logistics, and private ventures, his mission has always been one: to serve Saudi Arabia with awareness and balance.
When Did Leadership Begin? A Dream in a Young Expat’s Heart
Born in Los Angeles and raised there until the age of eight, Rayan returned to Saudi Arabia in the 1980s. The dramatic cultural shift sparked a burning desire within him: to see Saudi Arabia respected on the global stage. What began as a child’s dream became a lifelong journey filled with bold initiatives and impact-driven projects.
The Philosophy of Balance: No Success Without Alignment
For Rayan, the universe is built on balance. When balance is lost, stress and disorder follow. This belief shapes his leadership style—balancing work and family, ambition and spirituality, giving and receiving. He holds that true blessing comes from good intentions and doing the right work without expecting anything in return.
A Career Re-Shaped by Purpose
Rayan began his career with local companies before joining Savola and Unilever. Later, he became part of the team that built King Abdullah Economic City, contributing to world-class schools, infrastructure, and opportunities. From there, he shifted his focus to the private sector, concentrating on logistics and special economic zones, applying his expertise to advance Saudi Arabia’s national transformation.
Three Pillars of Impact
Rayan channels his influence through three main pillars:
Non-Profit Work
Leading the logistics and special economic zones sector through national councils and chambers of commerce.Board Memberships
Serving on boards of leading companies such as IKEA Saudi Arabia, Saudia Cargo, and Virgin, expanding his impact and driving strategic growth.Entrepreneurship & Investment
Founding Nama Al Baraka Holding, investing in logistics, transportation, fashion, and wellness, while actively supporting local designers and projects in both mental and physical health.
Leadership Lessons He Shares
For Rayan, leadership is not about titles—it is about impact. He advises young leaders to give before they take and to constantly “unlearn” to stay humble and adaptable. His formula for sustainability in leadership? Sincere intention and positivity, the two fuels that keep him moving forward despite challenges.
What’s Next? A Vision That Extends Further
Looking ahead, Rayan is preparing to launch the first large-scale regional logistics conference in Saudi Arabia, open new wellness centers, and expand social entrepreneurship initiatives that create opportunities and transform lives.
The Central Lesson
The message is clear: Leadership is not a title; it is the ability to discipline yourself and serve others with fairness and balance. When you live with balance and lead with generosity, your path to influence becomes broader and deeper.
