From Family Values to Corporate Leadership: The Inspiring Journey of Taha Nazer
In a memorable evening of the 2030 Leaders Mic Program, we hosted Taha Nazer, an inspiring leader whose story is more than just a career path; it is a journey of values, discipline, resilience, and continuous learning.
The Roots That Shaped Taha’s Character
Taha began by reflecting on the family values that continue to guide him today. From his father, a judoka with a strong personality, he learned discipline, self-respect, and confidence in his abilities. From his mother, a symbol of compassion and humanity. He inherited a spirit of giving, empathy, and helping others without hesitation.
His upbringing extended beyond his family to strong bonds with friends and siblings. Early responsibilities at home and school molded him into a natural leader, whether in family settings or the classroom.
Early Leadership in School and Aramco
Even as a student, Taha found himself in leadership roles class monitor, team captain, and defender of his peers before the school administration. Despite not being the most skilled football player, he still captained the team, proving that leadership is not always about technical skill, but about organization and trust-building.
A major turning point came when he joined the prestigious Aramco training program at 18. Out of thousands of applicants, only a select few were accepted, including Taha. The experience taught him professionalism and discipline in an intensely competitive environment and introduced him to the world of business from a global perspective.
Studying Abroad and Expanding Horizons
Taha continued his academic journey in the UK, earning both his Bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. This phase was a time of intellectual and professional growth, where he learned self-research, cultural adaptability, and new educational approaches that differed from traditional local methods.
A Diverse Career and Leadership Development
Returning to Aramco, Taha entered a unique internal training program, rotating across departments from financial performance to strategy and risk management. He discovered that real leadership comes from learning from every manager, whether exceptional or difficult, because each provides a new perspective.
His career then evolved into several senior leadership roles, including:
Executive Vice President of Finance at Saudi Ground Services, where he led finance, procurement, risk, and IT.
Head of Finance and Procurement at Cruise Saudi, one of Vision 2030’s ambitious tourism projects.
Taha attributes his success not only to financial expertise but also to a holistic understanding of business, effective communication, and managing diverse teams.
Taha’s Philosophy on Success and Advice to Youth
Taha believes a strong career begins with mastery of a solid specialization, followed by gradually expanding into leadership, communication, and business acumen. His golden advice to young professionals:
“Start with a strong foundation. Specialize in a field that helps you understand yourself and your talents. Then broaden your horizons through reading, continuous learning, and understanding the businesses you work in. Leadership is not about accounting entries or administrative procedures it’s about communication, understanding your team, and making the right decisions.”
From his family home in Saudi Arabia to leadership positions in some of the Kingdom’s most influential companies, Taha Nazer’s story proves that leadership is built on values, discipline, and lifelong learning. His journey is a message to every young person: success is not luck, but a long path of responsibility, self-confidence, and turning every experience into growth.
