Abdullah’s journey started early. He got engaged at the age of 20 and married at 23, with his wife being just 17 at the time of their engagement. Their relationship grew together, step by step, creating a self-made journey from scratch.

Personality: "Mysterious" but Straightforward

Abdullah describes his personality as a bit "mysterious" at first glance. He admits that some people find it hard to understand him at first because of his straightforwardness. "I am an open book," he says. "I don't have an agenda; I am very honest and direct." His openness, however, is part of his authentic leadership style, one that focuses on self-motivation and leading his own destiny. Abdullah likens his journey to the continuous upgrades of iOS versions, always striving to be a better version of himself.

Childhood Experiences Shaping Leadership

Abdullah’s childhood experiences played a significant role in shaping who he is today. Growing up with a father who worked for Saudi Airlines and had his own businesses, Abdullah was involved in various family ventures from a young age—starting work at the age of 10. His father, a strong leader, had a military-style approach to business. Abdullah recalls learning execution skills and the importance of logistics, but he was also exposed to the importance of human relationships in business.

“Though my father was a commander in his leadership style, I learned to engage people and make them excited to work for me,” Abdullah reflects. His experience with his father helped shape his reliable execution skills, which have since been a cornerstone of his leadership approach.

Becoming a Leader: Pivotal Moments

Abdullah’s path to leadership wasn’t immediate, but he always believed in self-growth. At the age of 16, Abdullah approached his father, asking for work. His father introduced him to a manager at Abdul Latif Jameel, where Abdullah started his career as a young data entry clerk. One of the Japanese managers there asked him a question that would forever change his perspective: "Where do you see yourself in ten years?"

This question made Abdullah think deeply about his future and gave him the clarity he needed to start creating a long-term vision for his life. "I had never considered that before," Abdullah admits. "But this conversation helped me think about how I could map my future and make it happen."

This encounter marked the beginning of Abdullah's realization that clarity and planning are essential for success.

Mentoring and Coaching Others

Today, Abdullah's leadership style is built not only on executing tasks but also on helping others grow. He has coached people at all levels, from high school students to CEOs, helping them understand the importance of self-awareness and creating personal roadmaps for success. Abdullah’s ability to inspire and guide others is evident in his work with young people, as he aims to help them avoid the feeling of lost potential that he once experienced himself.

"Many people, even at the CEO level, lack clarity about their future," Abdullah says. "I enjoy coaching others to help them find direction and work towards their goals."

Overcoming Challenges: The Path to Success

Abdullah’s professional journey began with technical work as an IT technician. He faced a tough environment but soon found himself under the radar of senior leadership at Abdul Latif Jameel, where he was placed in the high-potential list. This recognition led him to leadership development programs that would shape his future.

One pivotal moment came when Abdullah was challenged by a senior executive who told him he wouldn’t make it to the executive level unless he could better manage his emotions and reactions. This feedback was a tough pill to swallow, but it pushed Abdullah to improve his emotional intelligence. "I spent time reading, reflecting, and working on myself," Abdullah says. "I knew that to grow, I had to develop the ability to control my reactions and manage my emotions."

Transforming into an Executive Leader

Abdullah’s leadership journey took him to different opportunities, including a role with Mohammed Yousuf Naghi Group, where he was tasked with transforming their logistics operations. He also worked with the Economic Cities Authority as CEO of Residential Affairs.

Through these experiences, Abdullah’s growth as a leader became evident. He learned to balance strategy, empathy, and execution. His time in leadership roles has deepened his understanding of how to create an engaged culture within organizations, where employees are motivated, inspired, and aligned with the organization’s mission.

Leadership Lessons: The Power of Engagement

Abdullah’s experiences with employee engagement have shaped his view that engaged employees lead to engaged customers, which is essential for business success. "When employees are engaged, they become passionate about the company’s mission," he explains. "They care about the clients and act as ambassadors, ensuring that customers are satisfied and loyal."

Abdullah’s leadership philosophy emphasizes that true engagement comes from within. He believes in emotional connection and mutual respect, which foster a strong sense of belonging and commitment within organizations.

The Power of Personal Development

Abdullah's journey was shaped not only by his work with others but also through his personal development. He stresses the importance of understanding oneself and creating the right environment for growth. "We all have a personal mission," he says. "We need to keep focusing on our goals and not let anything distract us from our path."
